Another Opportunity to Get Paid At Fortitude
There has been a lot of hype recently about Fortitude, which is a newly launched web site where authors can earn money from publishing articles, and the unique payout methods and in particular the charging of a fee to join Fortitude have led to a number of people holding back on joining until they can see whether the site is going to be successful for others or not.
The initial announcement of Fortitude came in mid May 2010 had a lot of people excited, until they saw the membership fee, which although it was only $1.99 a month, was enough to deter people from joining, despite the fact that they could earn up to $20 for referring someone to the site, and also earn up to $100 for each article that was published on the Front Page of it’s daily issue.
The answering of questions about Fortitude let to more people joining, but even the announcement that 50% of the articles that were submitted made it to the Front page of the First Issue, and that the top article earned it’s author $80 did not trigger a flood of sign ups.
The deterrent was that if an article did not make it to the Front Page of Fortitude, the author got paid nothing for it, and a number of authors still are unhappy with the fact that there is a monthly membership fee to join Fortitude, even though this is to help prevent spam.
Today though, the creator of Fortitude, Nick Oba, has changed the rules again, and effective from today, ALL articles that are submitted to Fortitude, provided they are voted by the members as worthy of being published, will earn the author a flat rate of $1 if they do not make it to the Front Page. The nice thing for those who have already submitted articles to Fortitude is that the change was backdated to the opening date of 7th June, so that all articles which have been published already and did not make it to the Front Page of Fortitude have earned their authors $1.
For those who are not aware of the payments system on Fortitude, let me summarize them here, and I think you will see that the chances to earn money now really do outweigh the cost of membership, and this is just the start.
The Costs Of Joining Fortitude
There is a monthly membership fee of $1.99, primarily to help deter against spam.

Refer another member and earn between $12 – $16.

Review articles that have been submitted for 2 cents each.
Article Publishing Rights
If an article is published on the Front Page of Fortitude, since you get paid for the article, Fortitude takes over ownership of that article. However, if an article does not make it to the Front Page, you retain ownership and the right to publish that article elsewhere, so you could publish it on Associated Content as a “Display Only” article, or to another site or your blog, and still continue to earn from it.
The Benefits Of Writing For Fortitude
It doesn’t take a mathematical genius to see that you only need to write two articles a month to cover the membership fee, or to refer other members and for them to publish Front page articles, or for you to review several articles a day.
There are a number of ways in which that $1.99 fee can be quickly covered, and even if articles that are written do not make it to the Front Page, you are then free to submit them elsewhere. So that is an extra $1 per article for those that would not qualify for an Up Front Payment on Associated Content.
Payments are made through Paypal, and as long as you can open a Paypal account, it doesn’t matter which country you are from, you can write for Fortitude.
Unlike many other sites, Fortitude allows you to publish just about any type of article, including Poetry, therefore it ought to be of interest to those who write poetry and need somewhere else to publish their material.
I do believe that with these latest changes to the compensation plan for Fortitude, Nick Oba is on to a winner, and I wish both him and Fortitude a lot of success.
