Poddyland News 18th August
Today my lenses plummeted again, but I didn’t manage to do any updates over the weekend, and have an almighty backlog of things to do, however I plan to get back on track sometime this week if I can.
The good news is that they allowed my girlfriend into the country, and she is going to be here for 9 1/2 weeks. The bed news is that it took 15 hours from the time the plan landed until she came out of the airport, but I will let you hear the full story from her directly, when she gets around to writing about it. She thought of creating a lens about it, but we don’t know right now… But at least she is here, we are both exhausted, physically and emotionally, but recovering and of course together
From last week I still have 20-30 lenses that I plan to visit and comment on, but didn’t do anything over the weekend, so if I said I would visit your lens, it’s still on the list… I just need time to catch up. Most importantly I need time to boost my lenses, since they have been dropping so bad. But I have a few ideas…
However my plans might get thwarted, since Tropical Storm Fay is headed our way. We are already seeing the outer bande come over, and it’s been raining since 9am this morning, thundering and we could lose power tonight and tomorrow. Still, having just got my girlfriend here after 2 1/2 months apart, it would be nice to get a day off work tomorrow if they allow us to stay home - even if the weather is bad…

Congrats on your girlfriend’s safe arrival! Focus on enjoying the time she’s here…even if you have to delay a few lens updates. Good luck w/ Fay.

Thanks. Fay will bring some heavy rain and wind today. I got to take the afternoon off work, and hopefully tomorrow too
Since I can’t really take much time off right now, the break is really welcome.

How do you get organized on figuring out which lens to visit? I mean, do you write it down in a notebook somewhere? Or use a spreadsheet? I would like to start dedicating some time each day to visiting lenses. In general, I feel like there is a lack of honest star ratings being given out and I’d like to do something about it.

I’m so glad to hear that she was able to come into the country! This is such great news to hear since I remember you talking about in the forums.

Thanks, it’s so wonderful to have her here.
Mosaic, what I do to create a list of lenses or lensmasters to visit, which I don’t have time to do right away, is create an email to myself, with a subject of something like “Check This Tonight”. I then right click on the links, copy, then paste into the email. When I have 4 or 5 links, I send the email. When I have time to visit the lenses, I open the email, click on a link, it opens a window or tab. I then review or do whatever I need to, and when all links for the email have been processed, I delete the email.
I restrict the number of links to 4 or 5, since I don’t always have time to visit more than that in one go, and it’s easier to process a full email and to delete it.
I also move the emails to a special folder, basically an inbox of links awaiting processing.
Hope this helps, but it really does work for me.
